Stores Assistant
- Pay: £12.67 PAYE / £15.51 Umbrella

My client are seeking a Stores Assistant to join their team at the Carlton Depot. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a successful, award-winning social housing provider in Barnsley. As a Stores Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring an effective and comprehensive delivery service to our Operational Teams.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Assist in the efficient and effective delivery of comprehensive stores services.
- Pick materials from stock based on electronic requests, ensuring accuracy.
- Manage all processes associated with ordering, storage, stock checking, and distribution of materials, plant, and equipment.
- Liaise with Operations Staff to plan effectively for the provision of materials, plant, and equipment.
- Resolve queries and enquiries, chase up outstanding orders and purchases, including liaising with operational staff, procurement staff, suppliers, and sub-contractors.
- Report any damaged stock to the Stores Supervisor and assist in investigating any stock variances.
- Conduct regular stock checks and assist with van stock checks as required.
- Issue and return plant and tools to Operatives from the Plant store, maintaining accurate computerised records and reporting any faulty items.
- Maintain a computerised stock control system and assist in the development and introduction of new systems.
- Ensure good housekeeping, clear away rubbish, store items correctly, and follow health and safety procedures.
- Assist in developing and administering an effective delivery service across construction services, delivering stock to drop-off points around the borough on a rota system.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience working in a store or warehouse environment.
- Proficiency with software applications, including Microsoft Office.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety and manual handling.
- Willingness to work flexible hours to meet the needs of the service.
