The Role

The Law Society is the professional body for solicitors in England and Wales. Our vision is to promote, protect and support solicitors, the rule of law and justice in England and Wales.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced communications professional to shape the Law Society's approach to engaging with our membership about many of our strategic priorities. This includes a broad range of issues, such as increasing access to justice, championing the rule of law, EDI and regulatory compliance.

You will lead the member communication requirements involving our main strategic themes, campaigns and relevant topics/issues to our membership. You will coach an ambitious team of 10+ communication and content professionals to produce effective, integrated and collaborative communication plans and publish engaging, relevant, tailored, and creative outputs. This includes our extensive library of resources, such as Practice Notes, guides and toolkits.

You will take a leading role in determining what is published on our website, in our magazines and across a range of other channels. Crucially, you will use your experience to ensure our outputs are both based on target audiences and deliver on our strategic and commercial goals.

The role has line management of the Strategic Communications Manager, Content Design Manager and Content Manager (Sections).

What we're looking for

You will need to demonstrate extensive experience of producing impactful communication strategies and plans that successfully shift audience perceptions on often complex issues.

Strong people management and leadership skills are essential, as it the ability to thrive in a changing and fast-paced environment. You will need to demonstrate excellent written, verbal and editing skills, and be able to take often complex or technical information and transform it into compelling messages and communications.

You will be results-driven and be able to translate your solid understanding of best practice in planning and creating content to drive forward innovation. This includes a mix of coaching your team and delivering work yourself.

As a person, you'll be highly collaborative with the ability to work with colleagues at all levels across the organisation. You'll be self-motivated, proactive and positive, and be able to inspire the same in your team.
