Structural Engineer

Main Responsibilities for the successful Structural Engineer:
- This position centres on providing expert technical input to various projects and, over time, building an interdisciplinary team of engineers. The ideal candidate will bring leadership skills, technical expertise, and a passion for sourcing and mentoring junior professionals.
- Undertake all structural engineering aspects within projects.
- Lead and manage the technical engineering aspects of projects across multiple sectors, including residential, commercial, public, educational, and temporary works design.
- Interpret designs for buildings and associated structures from colleagues and third-parties, demonstrating clear, evidence based options for engineering solutions from initial concepts through to detailed designs.
- Liaise with internal and externals stakeholders throughout the design process, including architects, to ensure seamless project coordination.
- Provide professional assurance to project stakeholders of engineering solutions through precise commentary, accurate calculations and adherence to regulations.
- Design structures efficiently and to maximum effect using a variety of materials, including concrete, steel, masonry, and timber.
- Ensure that latest innovations in structural engineering are taken into consideration in a cost-effective and practical manner.
- Accept responsibility for the safe and efficient design of structures whilst being capable of providing reasoned, logical cases for selecting particular engineering solutions.
- Produce comprehensive design calculations, utilizing 3D modelling software, review and feedback on the accuracy of calculations prepared by others.
- Create sketch drawings and details for further modelling/drafting by team members, ensuring all outputs are thoroughly checked and reviewed before issue.
- Manage internal project coordination, acting as the client/design team interface, and ensuring effective communication across all parties.
- Conduct design reviews with clients, providing strategic and design advice in alignment with project specifications and briefs.
- Perform inspections and surveys, prepare detailed reports, and conduct structural analyses to support project requirements.
- Provide professional input to colleagues, and clients when required, to support the process(es) for obtaining planning and building regulations approval.
Main requirements for the successful Structural Engineer:
- Chartered Engineer - CEng, MIStructE / MICE
- Minimum 10 years’ of relevant Structural Engineering experience in either residential or commercial projects
- Proficient in relevant design software and experienced in working with design codes, specifically Eurocode.
- Knowledge working on projects involving concrete/steel framing and refurbishments.
- Knowledge of Building Regulations/ RIBA Plan of Works and BIM processes (ISO19650) and implementation.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects, work independently, and collaborate effectively within a team.

- Competitive £50,000 - £75,000 per annum + company bonus scheme based on annual profit (location dependent)
