Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a new Student Support Officer to join our new Campus Services centre in partnership with the University of Hull!

The role will be on a full-time, permanent basis at the University of Hull London Study Centre.

The Student Support Officer performs a key role in ensuring an excellent student experience and will be actively involved in the student engagement agenda, as well as being a first point of contact with the CEG Operations Team and the University of Hull Student Services Teams

The primary function of the post will be to support the administration of the student journey from pre-arrival to progression. This involves pre-arrival information, enrolment, induction and visa maintenance processes and student engagement.

A key part of the role will be ensuring adherence to a variety of external regulations from the relevant immigration authority (for example UKVI), academic authority (for example QAA) CEG and the University of Hull, in respect of compliance processes, data management and safeguarding.

What you will be doing as a Student Support Officer:

  • To play a key role in the coordination of the dual enrolment of students in line with UoH and CEG processes and ensuring student enrolment and withdrawal data is accurately recorded and maintained.
  • To administer visa-related documentation and procedures in line with UoH process and to adhere to all relevant policies, procedures and external regulators.
  • To support with student service induction activities, ensuring students are inducted and aware of services available as well as expectations upon the students - Attendance policy, conditions of visa and fee payments.
  • To ensure students are able to actively engage in the University of Hull experience through the social and cultural activities to enhance student experience, ensuring opportunities are communicated to students on an ongoing basis.
  • To address and monitor attendance concerns with students in line with external regulatory and UoH processes and action warnings, disciplinaries and withdrawals.
  • Act as a first point of contact for welfare concerns and referral point to provide students with welfare, guidance, and information. Liaising with colleagues, partners and external organisations/individuals as required, in relation to more complex cases.

Key specifications we will be looking for:

  • HND or equivalent experiential learning
  • Experience of working in a customer-focussed environment
  • Experience of providing customer support
  • Experience of working with data
  • Experience of working with international students (desirable)
  • Experience of working in an education setting (desirable)
  • IT literate
  • Ability to plan workloads and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work unsupervised
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to keep accurate records and to track information
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - verbal, written and electronic
  • The successful applicant will be fluent in the native language of the centre location (desirable)
