Job Description :

P4 Recruitment is seeking Support Workers to join our clients Children’s Home in Eastham. This role offers the opportunity to support children and young people in developing their social and life skills, improving relationships, and participating in recreational and educational activities.

Objectives
  • Support children and young people to develop and improve their relationships, social and life skills, academic performance, and participation in recreational and leisure activities.
  • Contribute to providing stable, secure, and safe surroundings, planned activities, and individual interventions.
Main Purpose of the Job
  • Establish nurturing and supportive relationships with children and young people to help them build functional and constructive relationships with others.
  • Participate as a team member, following Care2Rise Services’ philosophy of care, to provide care and support to children and young people placed in the home.
  • Work with the team to provide a stable, caring, and supportive environment that respects and affirms each child’s racial, cultural, and religious identity.
  • Assist children in developing socially acceptable behavior, encouraging positive behavior, responding constructively to inappropriate behavior, and adhering to Care2Rise’s behavior management strategies.
  • Act in alignment with the Core Principles at all times.
Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the normal development of children and young people, promoting a healthy lifestyle.
  • Support children’s education, recreational, and leisure needs.
  • Build strong communication with children, observe their behaviour, and record significant events.
  • Take an active part in social activities, including driving the home’s private cars for shopping or excursions.
  • Support children with daily tasks like cooking, cleaning, and personal hygiene to help them develop independence.
  • Collaborate with families and outside agencies such as social workers, teachers, and therapists.
  • Prepare children for transitions, such as returning to their families or moving towards independence.
  • Handle petty cash transactions and manage these according to the home’s procedures.
  • Participate in placement planning and support children in working towards agreed goals.
  • Take key worker responsibility, when appropriate, for one or more children.
  • Support family or other planned contacts as agreed by reviews or court hearings.
Conditions of Work

This position follows a rota set by the registered or deputy manager, including sleep-in duties, evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.

Core Principles

Promote and protect the health, safety, and wellbeing of children and young people. Help children make progress in their overall wellbeing, personal development, and relationships with others.

Personal Responsibilities
  • Participate in relevant meetings, including induction, handover, supervision, and staff meetings.
  • Undertake training, including NVQ Level 3, as agreed with the manager.
  • Support the team, receive support as necessary, and maintain professional standards.
  • Familiarize yourself with all relevant policies, procedures, and practices within the home.
Organizational Responsibilities
  • Adhere to organizational and legal policies and procedures.
  • Ensure accurate and timely recording of information, including logs, incident files, and communication books.
  • Stay informed on child protection procedures and operate within those guidelines at all times.
  • Promote good domestic and material standards throughout the home.
  • Maintain client confidentiality and only communicate with outside bodies if expressly permitted by the Registered Provider (Director).
Safeguarding and Child-Centred Responsibilities
  • Be alert to any signs of distress and ensure children are monitored and protected, reporting any concerns to the line manager or shift leader.
  • Ensure children’s physical, emotional, social, educational, spiritual, and cultural needs are met.
  • Understand and act in accordance with the organization's practice model and Quality Standards.
General
  • Promote equality and diversity within the home.
  • Ensure your work aligns with the home’s, departmental, and corporate plans.
  • Help children develop practical skills and social status valued within their communities.
  • Drive the home’s transport, as needed, if you have a clean driving license.
  • Adhere to the home’s Health and Safety policies.
Probation Period

This position is subject to successful completion of a six-month probation period. The Registered Manager, in consultation with the Responsible Individual, may terminate or reverse the appointment in cases of poor performance or any practice unbecoming of a Senior Child Worker.
