Support Worker (Carer)
Position: Support Worker (Carer)Responsible to: Senior Member of Staff on Duty
Location: Clayton Le Woods, ChorleySalary: starting £12.13 per hour
Hours: Full-Time days, various shifts
Purpose of the Role
To provide effective care and support to adult residents with profound learning and/or physical difficulties in accordance with individual service user plans. The role focuses on enabling independence and ensuring a safe, dignified, and person-centered approach to care.
Key Responsibilities
- Support & Care Delivery: Assist service users with daily living activities in line with their individual care plans, promoting independence and dignity at all times.
- Lifestyle Activities: Support service users in participating in their chosen lifestyle activities, following the rota as required.
- Medical Support: Act as a chaperone for medical and professional staff when necessary.
- Transportation: Drive company vehicles and mobility vehicles for appointments and activities (if applicable).
- Housekeeping & Cooking: Maintain a clean, safe, and homely environment by performing general housekeeping and meal preparation duties.
- Record Keeping: Complete care records, lifestyle logs, and other necessary documentation promptly and accurately.
- Health & Safety:
- Ensure safe use of equipment and report issues to the senior staff member.
- Report accidents, near misses, and complaints as required.
- Adhere to health, safety, and fire regulations at all times.
- Training & Development: Undertake formal and informal training identified by the manager to enhance your role performance.
- Policy Compliance: Follow the service’s policies, procedures, and guidelines while maintaining confidentiality.
- Additional Duties: Perform any other tasks as required to support the safe running of the service and the well-being of service users.
Qualifications & Skills Required
- Compassionate and patient with a commitment to providing high-quality, person-centered care.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail for record-keeping and reporting.
- A valid driving license (desirable but not essential).
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
