Job Title: Building Control Officer

Location: Essex

Contract Details: Temporary, full-time, 12 months

Salary: £47,000 - £54,000 per annum

About Our Client:

Our client, a City Council has a vacancy in the buildings and construction sector, is seeking two skilled Building Control Officers to join their team. As a vital member of their organisation, you will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with building regulations, conducting site inspections, and providing expert advice to architects, contractors, and duty holders.

Responsibilities:

• Review and assess deposited plans for compliance with Building Regulations
• Conduct site inspections to monitor and ensure compliance with regulations
• Prepare detailed written reports and letters
• Provide pre-application advice to architects, contractors, and duty holders
• Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve issues of non-compliance
• Utilise various Building Control IT systems and data management tools
• Maintain excellent communication and time management skills
• Work effectively both independently and as part of a dynamic team
• Conduct thorough site inspections and ensure adherence to safety protocols
• Stay up-to-date with regulatory changes and industry best practises

Essential (Knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience):

• At least 5+ years of experience in building control functions
• Thorough understanding of Building Regulations and their application
• Strong knowledge of building technology and construction practises
• Full membership of recognised professional bodies such as MRICS, MCABE, or MCIOB
• Registered with the Building Safety Regulator as a class 2 Registered Building Inspector

Desirable (Knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience):

• Familiarity with relevant technology such as Building Control IT systems
• Experience in conducting meetings and providing expert advice
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to work under pressure and manage tight deadlines
• Attention to detail and ability to work with minimal supervision
