Duties of a System Support Engineer :
- System Support: Provide top-notch technical support to clients by responding to inquiries, troubleshooting system issues, and resolving problems swiftly to minimise downtime.
- Preventive Maintenance: Conduct routine inspections, system audits, and preventive maintenance to ensure the seamless operation and reliability of control systems.
- Fault Finding and Diagnostics: Utilise advanced troubleshooting techniques and diagnostic tools to identify and resolve complex system faults effectively.
- System Optimisation: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement system modifications, upgrades, and enhancements, boosting performance and functionality.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed records of system configurations, maintenance activities, and troubleshooting procedures, ensuring comprehensive documentation.
- Training and Support: Empower end-users and support personnel by training them on the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of control systems.
Skills and experience required of a System Support Engineer:
- Full UK driving license
- Previous technical support experience for control systems or similar
- Proficiency in PLC programming languages (i.e. ladder logic, structured text)
- Familiarity with SCADA systems and HMI design
- Knowledge of control system protocols (Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP)
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks

You will be based at our clients HQ but will also work at client sites across the UK. Standard working week is 40 hours with a flexible working hours scheme and an early finish on a Friday! After your probationary period or once you're trained, you'll join the on-call rota.
