We are recruiting a Tax Adviser to join our fast paced and close-knit Tax Team.This is a great opportunity for an ambitious, qualified tax adviser to join our dynamic tax department. You will play a key role from day one, acting as the main point of contact for your portfolio of clients and support to the Financial Adviser Team.The Tax team sits beside our team of Financial Advisers which gives you a unique opportunity to collaborate and build relationships with colleagues from various teams to deliver a proactive, holistic and bespoke service to our clients.Job Role As a Tax Adviser, you will have responsibility for a portfolio of varied personal tax clients, working on Tax advisory and compliance services. This will involve:Client Work:
- Delivering excellent client service by establishing and maintaining client relationships.
- Creating tax strategies for personal clients and planning their financial futures.
- Providing support to the financial advisory team with Tax planning with mutual clients.
- Preparing and submitting individual returns by Tax filing deadlines.
- Carrying out detailed computations to calculate tax liability and advising on how to minimise a client's liability
- Preparation of advisory tax planning reports
- Preparing share pool’s and supporting reports to advise on clients capital gains tax positions.
- Advising on and implementing remuneration strategies, tax efficient share and option schemes and exit strategies.
- Estate planning and advising on tax residence and domicile matters;
- Review HMRC correspondence of compliance and advisory nature. Manage HMRC enquiries.
- Delegate tasks and review work from junior team members.

- Attend and lead some internal training sessions.
- Act as coach and support for junior team members.
- Appraise and provide feedback for junior team members.
- Engage in personal business development activities and support business development activities of the team.
Compliance
- Ensure relevant client deadlines are met.
- Ensure procedures are adhered to.
- Involvement in some departmental administrative tasks.
- Maintain technical knowledge. You’ll need to be able to interpret changing tax legislation to spot potential problems and provide solutions.
QualificationsKey Skills and Experience
- Ideally, VTA Qualified Tax Advisor
- private client tax experience gained within the professional services and or industry.
- Technically capable tax adviser who is able to assist in complex client work.
- Exemplary organisational and communication skills.
- Appetite to grow business development skills.

- ·Experience managing your own portfolio of clients.
- ·Client focused: Providing clear proactive advice and actively meeting deadlines and responding to client’s needs.
- ·Planning and Organisation: must be able to plan workload in order to prioritise to meet conflicting deadlines and cope with pressure. Must be able to instruct others, delegate appropriately and control delegated work efficiently.
- ·Excellent written communication skills and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with clients and financial advisers.
- ·Team Player – You’ll be a key person in a close-knit team. Offering support to both junior colleagues, other tax advisers and the financial advisers to work together to support our clients.
