This firm have a job vacancy for an experienced and motivated Tax Manager to join their growing firm of accountants, specialising in a mix of corporate and personal tax compliance and advisory services. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing and delivering tax services to a portfolio of owner-managed businesses (OMBs) and high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs). This role involves working across a range of sectors, providing both compliance and advisory expertise.As a Tax Manager, you will be responsible for leading client engagements, offering strategic tax advice, and ensuring that all clients comply with relevant tax laws while optimising their tax position. You will have the opportunity to mentor junior staff, work closely with senior management, and contribute to the growth and success of their tax practice.Key Responsibilities:
  • Tax Compliance:
    • Manage the preparation and submission of personal and corporate tax returns for a diverse portfolio of owner-managed businesses and their directors.
    • Oversee compliance with UK tax laws, including VAT, corporation tax, personal tax, and employment taxes.
    • Ensure all filing deadlines are met and client tax positions are accurately represented.
    • Monitor changes in tax legislation and ensure clients are kept informed of relevant updates.
  • Tax Advisory:
    • Provide strategic tax advice to clients on a wide range of matters, including corporate restructuring, shareholder planning, inheritance tax planning, and property transactions.
    • Advise on tax-efficient profit extraction, including dividends, salary, and pension contributions.
    • Assist clients with complex tax planning to minimise liabilities and optimise their tax position, particularly in the context of business sales, acquisitions, and succession planning.
    • Work with other departments (e.g., audit, corporate finance) to offer integrated tax solutions.
  • Client Management:
    • Act as the main point of contact for a portfolio of clients, building and maintaining strong relationships to understand their tax needs and business goals.
    • Review and supervise the work of junior tax staff, providing guidance and mentorship to support their professional development.
    • Lead client meetings, presenting tax strategies and updates in a clear and professional manner.
  • Team Leadership & Development:
    • Manage and develop a team of junior tax staff, providing coaching, technical training, and regular feedback.
    • Review work prepared by junior staff for accuracy and compliance.
    • Support the tax team with complex technical queries and foster a collaborative working environment.
Key Skills & Qualifications:
  • Qualifications:
    • ACA/ACCA/CTA qualified or equivalent.
    • Strong knowledge of UK tax legislation, both corporate and personal tax.
    • Proven experience in tax compliance and advisory within a practice environment.
  • Skills:
    • Ability to manage multiple client relationships and meet deadlines.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex tax matters to clients in an understandable way.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong leadership and people management skills, with a passion for developing and mentoring staff.
    • Proven business development skills and the ability to identify and pursue new opportunities.
Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a tax role within a firm of accountants, with a mix of corporate and personal tax work.
  • Experience working with owner-managed businesses (OMB) and high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs).
  • Proven track record of providing high-quality tax advisory services or have the desire to learn and move into a more advisory focussed role
