Our well-established and growing client based in Hoddesdon is looking to appoint a Qualified Tax Manager or Tax Assistant to join their busy team. The position is a permanent role based in Hoddesdon offering a generous salary dependent on skills, qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will be required to work full-time hours (9am - 5pm Monday - Friday) onsite in their offices based in Hertfordshire. Our clients preference is recruit candidates who are CTT/CTA qualified, however, they will also consider candidates without these certifications if qualified by experience.
Duties, Skills and Experience for post of TAX MANAGER:
- Personal Tax Compliance & Advisory Services: Provide comprehensive personal tax compliance and advisory services, effectively managing a diverse portfolio of individual clients.
- Corporation Tax Service: Assist Accountants with drafting corporation tax return and provide advice regarding capital allowances, R&D claims and other matters.
- Support to Directors: Assist the Directors in delivering expert advice on UK income tax, capital gains tax, inheritance tax, corporation tax, VAT and matters of residence and domicile.
- Client Planning & Advisory: Identify and advise on strategic planning opportunities for clients, particularly during tax return reviews and other relevant communications.
- Work-In-Progress (WIP) Management: Manage WIP effectively, including setting and meeting client expectations, ensuring recoverability, proposing fees, invoicing, and timely cash collection.
- Risk Management: Demonstrate strong risk management skills, particularly in client acceptance and engagement processes.
- Technical & Market Awareness: Stay informed about technical and market developments, ensuring up-to-date knowledge and practices.
Skills and Experience
- Fully qualified Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) is essential. Our client would consider candidates without certification if qualified by experience.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and multitasking ability.
- Knowledge of tax law and regulations.
- Experience with CCH software package desirable
- Previous experience in a client facing role desirable
Duties, Skills and Experience for post of TAX ASSISTANT:
- Request Tax Return information from the client or relevant parties
- Take ownership of and generate Tax Returns for a diverse client base
- Advise clients of their UK tax positions - including updating clients on when tax payments are due
- Assist with drafting corporation tax returns and advising clients regarding corporation tax planning matters
- Drafting P11Ds for clients
- Liaise with HMRC as appropriate
- Assist with tax investigation matters
- Assisting on advisory projects and other ad-hoc matters as required
Skills and Experience:
- ATT Qualified preferred, although our client would consider candidates without the certification if they are qualified by experience
- Practical and varied personal and technical tax knowledge
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently
- Numerate and analytical with excellent written and verbal communications skills
- IT literate (Excel, Word, Microsoft Teams)
- Experience with CCH desirable
- Would like to progress to studying CTA a big advantage
- Previous experience in a client facing role preferred
