About the Role: Teaching Assistant - ASD Provision - New Addington, Croydon

We are looking for a caring, enthusiastic, and committed Learning Support Assistant to join a newly established ASD Provision at a dynamic primary school in Croydon. This exciting role offers the opportunity to work in a purpose-built, inclusive setting, supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and helping them thrive both academically and socially. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and specialists to ensure each child's individual needs are met, fostering a nurturing environment where all children can reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities: Teaching Assistant - ASD Provision - New Addington, Croydon

  • Provide tailored support to children with ASD within the ASD Provision, assisting them with their learning, behaviour, and personal development.
  • Work collaboratively with the class teacher and SENCO to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for each student.
  • Support children during lessons and activities, ensuring they can access the curriculum and participate fully in school life.
  • Assist with social skills development, helping children interact with their peers and develop positive relationships.
  • Foster independence, self-regulation, and emotional well-being in children with ASD.
  • Monitor and record progress, reporting observations to the SENCO and relevant staff.
  • Help with transitions between lessons, break times, and other daily activities to ensure the students feel supported and secure.

The Successful Candidate Will Have: Teaching Assistant - ASD Provision - New Addington, Croydon

  • Experience working with children with Autism or other special educational needs (SEN) in an educational setting (preferred).
  • A compassionate, patient, and understanding approach, with the ability to build strong relationships with children and staff.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work closely with teachers, parents, and external professionals.
  • A proactive and flexible approach, able to respond to the varied needs of children with ASD.
  • A passion for inclusive education and a desire to make a positive difference in the lives of children.
  • Relevant qualifications in SEN, education, or childcare (desirable but not essential).
