Day-to-day of the role:
- Provide one-to-one support and group interventions for students with SEN and SEMH, adapting approaches to meet diverse learner needs.
- Collaborate with teaching staff to implement individual education plans (IEPs) and adjust teaching methods based on student responses.
- Employ innovative techniques to engage students and facilitate emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
- Assist in the creation and adaptation of educational materials that enhance accessibility and learning outcomes.
- Regularly assess student progress through observation and structured activities, providing detailed feedback to teachers and caregivers.
- Advocate for students' needs within the school environment, ensuring they feel safe, respected, and valued.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience in a Teaching Assistant role, with specific focus on SEN and SEMH.
- Strong understanding of educational needs and welfare considerations for students with emotional and behavioural challenges.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, capable of building trust and rapport with students facing barriers to learning.
- Resilient and proactive, with the ability to adapt quickly to changing needs and situations.
- Relevant training or certification in SEN education, psychology, or related fields is highly desirable.
