Job Title: Team Manager - Fostering

Location: Devon County Council (Various locations across Devon)

Salary: Up to £44 per hour

Contract Type: Independent Contractor (flexible hours)

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Team Manager to lead and manage a team of dedicated professionals, ensuring the best possible outcomes for children and young people in foster care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of Social Workers and Family Practitioners, overseeing day-to-day support and assessments.
  • Ensure the provision of high-quality support services for foster carers, children, and their families.
  • Work closely with the social work teams, families, carers, and multi-agency partners to ensure children's needs are met and that support services are accessible.
  • Oversee assessments of needs and support plans for carers and families.
  • Manage resources and budgets effectively.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of fostering service improvements.
  • Participate in relevant meetings and represent the fostering service at local and regional forums.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and best practice guidelines.
  • Promote a positive and supportive team environment.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • A social work qualification and up-to-date registration with the Social Work England (SWE) register.
  • Experience of working in children's services, with a focus on fostering, kinship care, or special guardianship.
  • Leadership and management experience, including experience of supervising, mentoring, and developing staff.
  • Knowledge of the Fostering Regulations and experience of working in a multi-agency and court environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Budget management experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the legislation, models, and theories relevant to children's social work.
  • Good recording and planning skills.
  • A valid UK driving licence and access to a car*.
