The Role:
On behalf of our client we are assisting them with their recruitment for Technical Buyer, within this role you will be responsible for the sourcing and purchasing of electrical goods, materials and commodities, ensuring all relevant goods are delivered to the correct location when required to ensure projects are delivered on time. The purchasing of all goods needs to take into account price, quality, delivery lead times and ensure the continuity of supply. Essential to the role is managing the order process which includes issuing and matching purchase orders, checking invoices and updating financial records.
Main responsibilities will include:
- Manage the most efficient and cost effective supply of electrical products, goods and services ensuring quality and delivery lead times are adhered to
- Negotiation with suppliers in terms of product quality, delivery and cost
- Explore new sources of supply to maintain competitive supply sources and reduce cost
- Develop strong, long-term relationships with suppliers, ensuring key suppliers are meeting agreed targets
- Negotiate, execute and monitor contractual agreements with suppliers
- Identity new suppliers and introduce these into the business
- Maintain a database of approved suppliers and establish best buying practice within the company
- Maintain the costing spreadsheet, ensuring product codes and costs are always up to date
- Prepare and process purchase orders and requisitions for materials, supplies, and equipment
- Ensure the processing and checking of supplier invoices and match with the relevant purchase order and quotes
- Ensure purchase system records are accurate and maintained
- Track shipments and keep the records up-to-date on a day-to-day basis
- Monitor and communicate any supply problems which present risk or opportunity to the organisation
- Managing stocked items, ensuring sufficient materials are always available in the warehouse
- Monitor market trends, competitor strategies and market suppliers
- Provide analysis on costs, new and existing and review cost reduction activities
- Conduct research for new components and suppliers
- Comply with all relevant Health, Safety, Cyber and Environmental Policies
The Person:
For this role our client is looking for an experienced Buyer who ideally has an electrical background (it would be perfect if you have previously been an electrician or worked for an electrical wholesales). They are looking for someone who has fantastic negotiating skills and is able to build strong business relationships.
In addition to this they are seeking someone who is /has:
- Several years of procurement experience, ideally in the electrical industry and previous experience of working in a purchasing team
- Experience of working closely with suppliers
- Able to build and maintain effective and productive relationships with colleagues, stakeholders and suppliers
- Good communication, negotiation, interpersonal and influencing skills
- Analytical, numerically astute with strong problem solving abilities
- Able to manage time effectively, prioritise tasks and achieve set targets
- Commercial and financial awareness with a full understanding of how delay or failure impacts project delivery
- Able to work well under pressure and handle emergency and stressful situations
- Keen attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent time management skills and ability to multitask and prioritise work
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organisational and planning skills
The Salary:
c£40,000
The Location:
Portbury Dock, Bristol, BS20 - 100% office based
The Benefits:
25 days + Bank Holidays up to 30 days plus bank holidays after service, car parking, Pension 5% employee, 3% company
The Hours:
37.5 per week (Monday - Friday)
