A leading insurance company is embarking on an exciting transformation, with significant investments focused on enhancing services, introducing new digital offerings for customers, and streamlining business processes. As part of this journey, there is an opportunity for a Technical Property Claims Consultant.
Key responsibilities include providing technical oversight to enhance the company's strategy in handling Domestic and Commercial Property claims, with values typically up to £1M. The role involves developing and improving the control framework for building expenditures across Property claims. You will conduct quality reviews to ensure compliance with scoping guidelines and standards and manage a variety of claims remotely, dealing with cases of varying complexity and value.
In this role, fostering strong relationships with the internal Claims Operations, Underwriters and Supply Chain is crucial. You will ensure compliance with relevant legislation, stay informed about market trends, and adapt to changes in the construction market, including cost and inflation factors. Providing technical support to internal Claims Handling teams and assisting in the management of complex buildings claims are key aspects of the role. You will typically receive 10-20 referrals per week from colleagues, requiring your technical knowledge and expertise. These referrals range from a simple yes or no answer, which resolves the case in moments, to those more complex and contentious matters that can take weeks or months to resolve. Additional responsibilities include investigating complaints, conducting site visits when necessary, and making recommendations to resolve claims. During surge events, you will play a critical role in supporting both Operational and Field teams.
This role is essential in advancing the company's technical strategy, particularly in the area of property buildings claims. To be considered, you will have substantial experience managing large and complex retail and commercial property claims, along with a deep understanding of construction principles, general insurance policies, and building claims validation. Proficiency in using scoping and project management tools and knowledge of the subsidence claims process are also beneficial. The role requires a strong understanding of construction pathology, pricing, design, and defect analysis. You must have excellent interpersonal skills to engage effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
You will receive a basic salary up to £50K, a car/car allowance and a comprehensive benefits package. The position offers substantial flexibility, allowing you to work primarily from home while also visiting client sites as required. You will reside in the Midlands or East Anglia region.
