Do you want to work for a company that really make a difference within the local community?Rota: Shift Pattern to cover 24/7 - 365 DaysThis Monitoring Control Centre operates a 24/7, 365-day monitoring and response service, supporting their partners, service users, and commercial customers. As a CCTV and Telecare Operator, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety of the public, commercial properties, and vulnerable individuals by monitoring CCTV systems and responding to telecare and emergency calls. This role combines technical expertise in CCTV surveillance with a passion for supporting independent living through assistive technology.
Key Responsibilities:• Monitor and respond to all incoming assistive technology calls following established procedures, ensuring detailed records of all calls and actions taken.• Provide reassurance to vulnerable service users (e.g., elderly or disabled individuals) and summon necessary assistance (e.g., emergency services or family).• Conduct equipment tests when required and report any system issues to the Control Centre Team Leader or Customer Delivery Manager promptly.CCTV Monitoring:• Proactively monitor CCTV camera systems covering public areas and commercial partner sites, maintaining vigilance for any suspicious activity or security breaches.• Take manual control of cameras as needed, document incidents, and escalate issues to appropriate authorities or teams.• Respond to enquiries from authorised personnel, adhering to Home Office guidelines and Company Code of Practice.Emergency Call Handling:• Handle incoming calls from the Council Out of Hours Emergency Telephone lines, following procedures and accurately documenting all actions.• Assist in coordinating emergency responses and liaise with external agencies to ensure appropriate action is taken.• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Control Centre Team Leader or Customer Delivery Manager.Essential Criteria:• Strong interest in assistive technology and its role in promoting independent living.• Passion for supporting vulnerable individuals, particularly those with health issues, disabilities, or the elderly.• Ability to manage high-pressure environments, including handling multiple interruptions or conflicting demands.• Strong communication skills to effectively handle sensitive information and convey complex issues to diverse audiences.• Ability to work independently and make decisions within established guidelines, without immediate supervision.Experience and Qualifications:Essential:• General education, including GCSEs in English and Maths (or equivalent).• Ability to analyse and interpret complex information to develop solutions and plans.• Strong dexterity and coordination, especially in managing CCTV systems and using computer technology.• Must be able to pass our vetting processes which include a Non-Police Police Vetting Level 1 and enhanced DBSDesirable:• SIA license for CCTV operations.• Experience monitoring CCTV systems with knowledge of relevant legislation, including data protection and public space surveillance laws.• Experience in tasks related to the well-being of individuals, such as needs assessments or care implementation.Skills:• Proficiency in ICT and assistive technology.• Excellent time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.• Effective problem-solving abilities, especially in high-pressure situations.• Demonstrated ability to coordinate with various internal and external parties, including emergency services, local councils, and family members.Work Environment:• Location: Control Centre (moving to Gun Wharf, Chatham in 2025).• Schedule: Rotating shift pattern covering 24 hours, 7 days a week, including weekends and public holidays.• Physical Requirements: Ability to sit for long periods in a control room environment and maintain focus on multiple screens and communication channels.Compensation and Benefits:• Salary: £24,764.70 per annum.• Benefits: Death in Service Benefit, Access to 24 hour GP support, Health check for night assessments, Counselling, Free Parking, Free Tea and Coffee, Access to Mental Health First Aider, Birthday Day Off, Christmas Concessionary Day
