Role: Theatre Porter

Location: The Wellington Hospital, St Johns Wood, London

Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours/ week. Working a mixture of early and late shifts, with weekend working required on rotation

Salary: Up to £26,000 + Benefits (pension, health cover, flexible benefits and excellent career development)

We have an exciting opportunity for a Porter to join our Theatre teams over at The Wellington Hospital. This role is vital in providing a 5* portering service to all patients, consultants and visitors to the theatres unit as required. This will include taking patients and their visitors to their rooms, transferring patients between theatre and wards, equipment and materials and ensuring the safety and security of everyone within our hospital.

What you’ll do:

  • Provide a high standard of patient care and safety in the operating theatre
  • To appear professional and courteous at all times, whilst providing support to other departments within the unit
  • To check gauges and storage of gas bottles, changing them as necessary
  • To support the clinical teams in moving and transporting equipment and materials, as required
  • Provide assistance to the clinical staff inside theatres to position the patient and when transferring the patient
  • Escort and transfer of the patient to the operating theatre and back to their room after surgery
  • Maintain patient confidentiality at all times and ensure compliance with HCA polices
  • Provide support and undertake activities to support the running of the theatre lists as required

What you’ll bring:

  • Previous porter experience within healthcare, ideally within theatres
  • Able to lift heavy items when required
  • Good spoken English
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety procedures
