The RoleIn this role, you will be responsible for supporting the company's New Product Approval process consisting of onboarding cross-department, from start to finish, any new venues, products, and third parties traded by the company. Responsibilities for this aspect of the role include:
- Driving parties involved in the process to complete required tasks
- Facilitating issue resolution when blockers are encountered
- Providing regular reporting on implementation status
In addition, you will also support key controls to manage trading and operational risk. Further responsibilities for this aspect of the role include:
- Performing core start-of-day or end-of-day controls to ensure that all risks are accounted for.
- Ensuring all trade capture and reporting exceptions are verified, cleared, and escalated promptly.
- Continuous monitoring and reconciliation of trading positions.
- Liaising with Trading and Tech teams, supporting daily market activity.
- Ensuring that regular reporting is produced to monitor and identify abnormal trades and positions, and other key market metrics.
- Validating the accuracy and effectiveness of data sources used to produce a set of daily market risk reporting and analysis.
- Liaising with trading, risk, tech, and data teams on trading/reporting-related issues.
- Verifying and utilising settlement prices (and other data consumed across the company) for trading and analysis purposes.
- Enhancing tools, analysis, and reporting used by the team to report critical information to both Trading desks and Senior Management.
- Improving and maintaining internal policies and procedures followed by the team, ensuring their completeness and that current practices adhere to them
- Participating in various ad-hoc projects and analysis (e.g. markets/technology-related)
What You'll Bring
- A bachelor/master's in a technical field (e.g. finance, economics, other quantitative disciplines etc.).
- A minimum of 2-3 years of professional experience in a similar role.
- Prior professional exposure/experience to energy trading (Oil, Gas, Power) via either an Exchange, a broker, a proprietary or a liquidity-providing firm (market maker), hedge fund, physical player, etc.
- Previous professional experience/exposure relating to Energy commodity Futures and Options.
- Proven experience leading/implementing technical projects as well as communicating their status and progress with senior management.
- Coding skills (Python/APIs, SQL, VBA) and understanding of databases and/or interest developing in this area.
- Previous experience with the daily management of trade life cycle events (expiries, hedging, etc.).
Desirable
- Knowledge and/or previous exposure to risk models and risk management strategies would be beneficial (e.g. exchange margin models, VAR, stress-testing, back-testing, FX hedging strategies, etc.)
- Knowledge/experience of the following tools/data services would be a nice-to-have" but not essential: Bloomberg, Platts, Reuters, Trayport, TT, ICE Connect, WebICE, CME Direct, SPAN GUIs.
