Role Details: As a member of the team, you will work within small classes both individually and in groups. Your responsibilities will include designing, planning, and delivering teaching sessions to support pupils' learning and progression, as well as improving their social and emotional development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide teaching and support to pupils following individualised curriculums.
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons and activities, focusing on communication and life skills.
  • Support pupils' participation in trips, applying theory-based learning to practice.
  • Provide behaviourally based support to replace and reduce behaviours that impact quality of life.
  • Assist with personal care, encouraging pupils to maintain acceptable levels of hygiene (toileting, feeding).
  • Monitor pupil progress, ensuring teaching is appropriate and effective for each child's needs.
  • Assist with breaktime duties including playground support and snack time.

Salary and Hours:

  • Salary: £23,000 per annum plus a £1,000 joining bonus and regular salary progression based on the completion of training.
  • Full-time hours: 36.75 hours per week.
    • Monday, Wednesday, Thursday: 08:45am - 04:45pm
    • Tuesday: 08:45am - 05:30pm
    • Friday: 08:45am - 04:30pm
  • Part-time working is also considered - 3 or 4 days per week (must include a Tuesday).

Training Opportunities:

  • Access to a wide range of Education & Childcare courses, including RQF CACHE Level 2, 3 & 4 in Early Years, Learning Difficulties, and Teaching & Learning.
  • Behaviour analysis-specific qualifications, including Teaching Ranks, Registered Behaviour Technician (RBT), Board Certified Behaviour Analysis certification (BCBA), UK Society for Behaviour Analysis certification (UKBA(cert)).
  • Masters in High Incidence & Disabilities worth up to £13,000.
  • Regular training in Safeguarding, Emergency Medication, Behaviour Management, Personal Care, Autism, and more.

Qualifications and Skills Needed:

  • Professional, personal, or voluntary experience of working with children and disabilities.
  • Minimum Grade C/4 GCSE in English Language & Maths or equivalent.
  • Comfortable working with children who exhibit behaviour that challenges.
  • Comfortable supporting others with personal/intimate care where required.
  • Ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations.
