A truly rare opportunity to enter the commercial underwriting industry, where you can carve yourself a very rewarding and lucrative career.
The Leeds office of this very successful insurance company seeks an Underwriting Assistant to support its senior underwriting staff with the servicing of existing clients, as well as the growth of its portfolio.
This position has arisen as a result of an internal promotion, which is a regular occurrence within this growing organisation.
Our client provides insurance for some fascinating risks, and distributes its business via a number of channels, including insurance brokers, well-known price comparison sites and high-profile trade associations.
Your duties will include, but certainly not be limited to, calculating premiums to ensure the continued profitability and competitiveness of accounts, reviewing renewals, analysing data and trends, dealing with broker enquiries, and managing relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
It is essential that you are detail-orientated with good numeracy skills, and comfortable with using Microsoft Excel. Some previous experience in the insurance industry is required, although you do not need to have previous underwriting experience. We will consider talented candidates from broking, claims or underwriting, who are keen to enhance their professional development within a top firm. Just as importantly, you’ll be personable and engaging, with the ability to liaise effectively with a wide range of people.

There is a clear route towards becoming an Underwriter (then Senior Underwriter), and given the ongoing growth of the company, the sky is the limit in terms of your career development.
Excitingly, the company is developing new products and propositions, which will give you exposure to some fascinating insurance risks and projects.
The company offers a hybrid-working environment, allowing you to work from home a couple of days a week.
You will be rewarded with a basic salary ranging from £25K - £33K (Negotiable, depending on experience) plus a range of company benefits.
