We are working with a highly successful and ambitious family-run haulage business who are looking for an experienced Transport Planning Manager to join their team. Role Overview:Our client has ambitious plans to grow and as the Transport Planning Manager, you will play a key part in that. Supporting the Directors of the business and taking responsibility for a fleet of articulated vehicles and drivers, you will be comfortable in planning under pressure to ensure maximum revenue while adhering to legal constraints and maintaining high standards of customer service.  If you thrive in an environment where you need to juggle and predict what might or might not happen during the day, then this could be the perfect opportunity. Plans regularly change with vehicles being held up, customer orders and cancellations coming in at short notice, along with loading and traffic delays, so you’ll need to be agile.  Key Responsibilities include:
  • Develop efficient routes for drivers to maximise delivery effectiveness and minimise fuel consumption and transit time.
  • Continuously evaluate and adjust routes based on factors such as traffic conditions, weather, and customer requirements.
  • Assign daily routes and schedules to drivers, considering factors such as driver availability, vehicle capacity, and delivery deadlines.
  • Proactively communicate with customers regarding delivery status updates, delays, or other relevant information.
This is a key role within the business and for that we reason we are looking for:  Experience & Knowledge
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in transport planning.
  • 2+ years' experience in general haulage.
  • Proficiency in planning 20+ vehicles.
  • Transport Manager's CPC or working towards.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of drivers’ hours regulations.
  • Strong understanding of running costs.
  • Proficient computer skills.
