Job Description :

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced SEND Tribunal Officer to join our team. The SEND Tribunal Officer will play a pivotal role in supporting the effective delivery of the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Tribunal process. This position requires an individual with strong knowledge of SEND legislation, excellent communication skills, and a passion for advocating for the rights of children and young people with special educational needs. The role will involve working with families, local authorities, educational professionals, and other stakeholders to ensure fair and effective decision-making within the SEND Tribunal framework.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage SEND Tribunal cases from initial receipt to final decision, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and guidance.
  • Review, assess, and process tribunal applications and documents, including Statements of Evidence, Reports, and Appeals.
  • Liaise with families, local authorities, educational institutions, and legal representatives to coordinate the tribunal process.
  • Support families in understanding the tribunal process, providing guidance on their rights and responsibilities.
  • Prepare and maintain case files, including documentation, correspondence, and evidence.
  • Attend tribunal hearings, providing administrative and procedural support as needed.
  • Assist in the preparation and drafting of tribunal decisions and recommendations, ensuring clear and concise legal and educational language.
  • Monitor and manage case progress to ensure timely decisions are made in line with statutory deadlines.
  • Provide advice and guidance to stakeholders regarding SEND law, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all tribunal activities and decisions.
  • Participate in continuous professional development to stay updated on relevant legislation, policy changes, and best practices.
