Due to a valued colleague relocation, we’re looking to hire an equally dedicated and clinically excellent Veterinary Surgeon to continue providing great care to our pet patients and their parents, across a 40 hr working week and no weekends!  Our Role – Veterinary SurgeonThis role sits within our Gosport ‘Neighbourhood Vets’ team. You’ll be a senior member of the team responsible for upholding the practice’s excellent reputation for high standards in patient care and expert advice. Passionate about creating strong client relationships and encouraging team collaboration to continue to support and drive our growth whilst maintaining the high standards and warm and welcoming atmosphere our clients value. 

A full job description is available on request, but to summarise your key responsibilities:

  • Consultations & Clinical Assessments – Conduct thorough consultations ensuring appropriate case management and patient care.
  • Routine & Preventative Care – Provide routine health checks, vaccinations, parasite control, and preventative healthcare advice to improve long-term patient wellbeing.
  • Surgical & Medical Case Management – Perform routine surgical procedures (e.g., neutering, lump removals, dentals) and manage medical cases, ensuring a balanced approach between medical and surgical interventions.
  • Diagnostics & Treatment Planning – Utilise appropriate diagnostic tools (e.g., imaging, laboratory tests) to reach an accurate diagnosis and formulate evidence-based treatment plans.
  • Client Communication & Education – Provide clear, professional, and compassionate explanations to pet owners, ensuring they understand diagnoses, treatment options, and aftercare.
  • Emergency & Urgent Care – Manage urgent and emergency cases during working hours, stabilising patients and arranging further treatment as necessary.
  • Record Keeping & Compliance – Maintain detailed, accurate, and up-to-date clinical records, prescriptions, and adhere to RCVS and practice protocols.
  • Continuous Learning & Professional Development – Stay up to date with the latest advancements in veterinary medicine, engaging in CPD activities to enhance your skills and supporting/mentoring colleagues where required.

 Your Skills – Veterinary Surgeon

To be successful in this role, you’ll need the following skills, experience and qualities:

  • RCVS registered and entitled to work in the UK
  • A confident, reasonably experienced GP – Proven experience of working within UK practice required to enable you to manage a varied caseload independently which will include consultations, routine surgeries, and diagnostic procedures.
  • Happy with sole charge – Although this is typically just one day a week, you’ll need to be comfortable making autonomous clinical decisions when required while maintaining high patient care standards.
  • Possess strong surgical & diagnostic skills – You need to be proficient in general soft tissue surgery, dentistry, and routine diagnostic techniques
  • An exceptional communicator – Able to provide clear, compassionate explanations to pet owners, ensuring they feel supported and confident in their pet’s care.
  • Someone with empathy & patience – We believe in a caring and understanding approach towards clients and their pets, fostering trust and strong relationships.
