Field Technician - Water Industry Location - East Malling, KentAre you an experienced professional in the clean water sector, ready to expand your knowledge and exposure to network operations? Our client, a leading provider of design, manufacturing, and maintenance services for water infrastructure projects, is currently seeking a Field Technician to join their dynamic team.About Our Client:With a commitment to excellence and safety, our client specializes in pipework across clean water networks. They are dedicated to delivering outstanding results for their clients and fostering a culture of excellence and safety within their team.Your Role:As a Field Technician, you will be responsible for a broad spectrum of field-based activities such as trunk and distribution main isolations, asset investigation and validation, operability testing, reservoir outages and mains disinfections, and all associated water quality activities such as flushing and sampling. You will work closely with the Field Supervisor, Senior Technicians, and Project Managers.Key Responsibilities:*Undertake a variety of field-based Water Network activities primarily in and around the M25, with occasional work in the Thames Valley region.*Lead duties as the first-person in a team of two, troubleshooting to achieve a safe, first-time result.*Identify potential issues, determine their root causes, and utilize available resources to troubleshoot, resolve, repair, or make necessary adjustments while collaborating with the team and stakeholders.*Handle both planned and unplanned work, investigating clean water networks to address performance issues such as high or low pressure, leakage, metering queries, and supply disruptions.*Conduct day-to-day activities including trunk main isolation, operability checks, asset verification, logger deployment, and various water quality activities like flushing and sampling.*Monitor flows and pressures, taking turbidity and chlorine readings, and applying skills in optimization to detect anomalies, find resolutions, and ensure a safe result.*Operate clean water assets such as valves and hydrants, working with large diameter trunk mains as well as smaller distribution mains.*Utilize GIS plans, site schematics, and other reference documents to conduct comprehensive site assessments such as point of work risk assessments, site survey reports, and trace extensions.*Perform risk and hazard inspections, delivering comprehensive reports to the Project team in a client-ready format.*Support and collaborate with office-based project teams, providing solutions to emerging issues, reporting and escalating when necessary, and preparing vehicles, equipment, and stock for upcoming tasks.*Coach and mentor fellow operatives, sharing your knowledge and skills.*Ensure complete and unwavering compliance with Company, client, and industry regulations, safety standards, and environmental guidelines.Skills and Qualifications:*Minimum 3 years of practical, clean water industry field experience.*First-person lead on trunk main isolations on large diameter mains.*Ideal experience includes district metered area validation, zonal pressure tests, and experience with valve shut-offs and step testing.*EUSR Water Hygiene.*Valve operations including CALM Networks.*NRSWA Operative (Unit 2).*IT proficiency including Office365, GIS mapping tools, PDA/Tablet use, and online reporting software.*Full UK driving license.Personal Specifications:*Strong network knowledge and initiative to problem-solve field issues.*Driven by safe, first-time results and motivated by seeing activities through from start to finish.*A proven track record of owning or leading tasks and activities, with a drive to see jobs through to resolution.*High regard for compliance, putting safety above all else.*Lead by example and seek to share knowledge, skill, and work ethic with your team.*Able to work flexibly and reactively depending on business operations and requirements, including day, night, and weekend shifts as required.Employment Specifics and Package:*Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent*Weekly Hours: 40 hours per week (Monday to Friday)*Night Work: Currently 1 in 4 weeks (excludes Friday night as standard)*Weekend Work: Optional as overtime (time and a half)*Salary: £30,000 to £38,000 per annum plus overtime (time and a half)*Pension: 4% employer contribution*Tools and Equipment: Company utility van with air conditioning, fuel card, and all tolls paid upfront; Contract mobile phone and tablet and/or toughbook; All uniform and any PPE required; Any tools and equipment deemed necessary to fulfil your role.How to Apply: Interested candidates are encouraged to submit their CV and a cover letter detailing their experience and suitability for the roleContact Information: Jamie Birch -
