Job Description :

Our client within the London Borough of Hillingdon area is are seeking a dedicated Welfare and Attendance Officer to join their team. This role is crucial in ensuring that pupils with medical needs receive the highest quality care and support, and that attendance is monitored and managed effectively to support pupil success.

Day-to-day of the role:

Work pattern: 36 hours per week, Term time only (38 weeks)   Hours of work: Monday – Friday, Two days at 8:30am – 4:30pm, Three days at 8:30am – 4:00pm with ½ hour lunch break 

Medical and Welfare Support:

  • Provide first aid and medical attention as required for pupils and staff.
  • Manage and administer medications according to care plans and ensure all medications are stored safely and are up-to-date.
  • Liaise with healthcare professionals to ensure pupils’ medical needs are met and maintain updated medical records on the school database.
  • Support pupils with personal hygiene and health concerns, ensuring these do not become barriers to their learning.
  • Maintain and stock first aid supplies and ensure readiness for school trips.

Attendance Management:

  • Lead the school’s efforts in monitoring and improving pupil attendance.
  • Communicate the importance of attendance to pupils, parents, and staff through workshops and meetings.
  • Manage daily attendance records, follow up on unexplained absences, and liaise with the local authority on attendance issues.
  • Implement and oversee attendance improvement initiatives and reward schemes.

Information Management and Reporting:

  • Keep accurate records of all medical interventions and report to parents as necessary.
  • Ensure all medical and attendance data is accurately entered into the school’s information systems and is compliant with data protection regulations.
  • Produce reports on attendance and medical incidents for school management and external agencies.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a similar role, ideally within an educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of medical needs and first aid (first aid certification preferred).
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work compassionately and effectively with children.
  • Proficient in using school database systems, preferably SIMS.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

Salary : 25000 - 26000
