Work and Health Coach

Join our dynamic team in Greater Manchester as a Work and Health Coach. GC, a fast-growing social enterprise, is dedicated to delivering employment, health, and justice services across the North of England. We focus on empowering individuals to develop their strengths and progress positively in their lives. This role involves supporting participants to retain employment, return to work after sickness, or find new employment opportunities.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Manage a caseload of participants, providing tailored support to help them achieve their employment goals.
- Conduct Work and Health Assessment meetings with participants both face-to-face and online via Microsoft Teams.
- Identify client support needs related to work, including benefits/welfare advice and mental health issues, and offer appropriate support and guidance.
- Assist clients in identifying their skills, aspirations, and goals, and develop an Action Plan to secure and sustain employment.
- Engage with local employers to uncover both hidden and advertised job opportunities for clients.
- Collaborate with local partners, including GP Practices, MSK services, and social prescribing hubs, to coordinate comprehensive support.
- Perform triage duties and facilitate referrals to external services as needed to support participant needs.
- Educate and support employers on adjustments, return-to-work strategies, and maintain ongoing contact to ensure job retention.
- Adhere to effective monitoring and evaluation systems and stay informed about evolving practices in vocational rehabilitation.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Empathetic and approachable demeanor with strong relationship-building skills.
- Awareness of the impact of health and mental health conditions on employment.
- Experience dealing with multiple barriers to employment and sustained employment.
- Knowledge of support agencies for individuals with complex needs such as debt, substance misuse, and housing.
- Familiarity with the local labour market and various job roles.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of working in a target-driven environment.
- Experience working with individuals facing multiple and complex needs, including health conditions and disabilities.
- Background in guidance, advice, or counselling environments.
