Yard Assistant - Jewson : Job Details

Jewson, a leading building materials distributor in Northern Europe, is on the hunt for a Yard Assistant to join the team in our Edinburgh Slateford Road branch who is as passionate about great service as we are!

Hours: Monday-Friday 7:30am-5pm, every 3rd Saturday 8am-12pm

Location: Jewson, 153 Slateford Rd, Edinburgh EH14 1NZ

Key Responsibilities:

This role has a strong focus on customer service - whether it be outdoors in our yard/warehouse area or in branch at the trade counter - you'll be a familiar face to customers visiting the branch.

• Welcome customers to the branch and take an active interest in their projects

• Get to know our product lines so you can offer advice and help to customers, making the most of all customer interactions in line with our Jewson Values

• Help to pick and prepare customer orders, load and unload customer and supplier vehicles

• Check incoming deliveries and report missing or damaged products

• Maintain stock levels in both the shop and yard areas, carrying out regular stock counts

• Keep the branch looking clean and tidy, to make a great first impression on our customers

• Make Health & Safety a priority and demonstrate how you can keep yourself and others safe at work

Required Skills and Experience

• Previous industry experience preferred but not essential

• Confident working both indoors and outdoors

• Comfortable in a role involving extensive manual handling of bulky items

• A flexible and positive attitude to work

• Able to commute to the branch easily - driving license preferred or access to early public transport
