Youth Officer

Salary: £32,115 - £36,124 per annum

The Role
Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service is seeking 2 x Youth Officers to join our department. We are looking to fill 1 permanent position and 1 temporary position (for approximately 12 months) to cover for a Youth Officer on maternity leave.
The temporary maternity cover role is open as a secondment opportunity for any internal staff who are looking to develop their understanding of the Prevention department, subject to meeting the essential criteria of the role. Please note, internal staff wishing to apply must notify and gain approval from their current line manager before applying.
The roles will require an individual to be able to deliver innovative high quality youth projects, manage complex case work, to collaborate with partner agencies and DFRS staff, to safeguard young people and reduce anti-social behaviour.
Workstreams for the Youth Team include facilitating a county wide Fire cadet programme - which includes the Duke of Edinburgh Scheme and the DFRS 'Youth Council’, the delivery of early intervention programmes such as our 'YES’ (Youth Engagement Scheme) with local schools and outreach work in our local communities to tackle anti-social behaviour. There will be opportunities for the team to create and facilitate new innovative programmes to deliver to young people across the county.
You will be required to work and travel around the county for which a pool car will be provided.
The normal working week is 37 hours to be worked flexibly, including some evening and weekend working to support youth projects.
