Gas Authority Of India LTD is India's largest state-owned natural gas refining and distribution company. It is located in New Delhi. It is under the administrative jurisdiction of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.
It includes the following business segments: natural gas, liquid hydrocarbon, transportation of liquefied petroleum gas, petrochemical, distribution of industrial gas, exploration, and development, GAILTEL, and generation of electricity.
GAIL was conferred by the government of India with the rank of Maharatna on the 1st of February in 2013. Among all central CPSEs, only eight other Public Sector Enterprises (PSEs) enjoy this coveted status.
History
GAIL was formed under the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MoP&NG) as a federal public sector undertaking (PSU) in August 1984. The company was previously known as India Limited Gas Authority.
It is the largest gas transmission and distribution company in India. The company was initially responsible for the construction, operation, and maintenance of the pipeline project Hazira-Vijaypur-Jagdishpur (HVJ).
It was one of the world's most significant transnational natural gas pipeline projects.
Services
In 1997, GAIL began its distribution of city gas in New Delhi by constructing nine compressed natural gas (CNG) stations.
The Exploration and Production department was established to secure gas for its mainstream sector. Today GAIL is a partner in the Daewoo-OVL led consortium in two Myanmar offshore blocks that have made a discovery of the gas.
The majority of its blocks are found in Cambay, Assam-Arakan, Mahanadi, Krishna Godavari deep water and on land, Cauvery on land and deep water and offshore west in India. The company is aggressively searching for exploration blocks in foreign countries.
GAIL has built a network of trunk pipelines extending about 11,000 km in length. Taking advantage of the core competencies, GAIL has played a vital role as a gas market developer in India for decades. GAIL serves major industrial sectors such as electricity, fertilizers, and distribution of city gas.
Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) is India's most commonly used domestic and commercial fuel. GAIL has emerged as one of the country's largest LPG producers in the last four years. The household sector consumes about 90 percent of LPG in India as heat. At the same time, the rest is supplied to industrial and commercial customers.
GAIL has seven LPG plants, two in Vijaipur and one each in Vaghodia, in Lake (Assam), Auraiya (UP), Gandhar (Gujarat), and Usar (Maharashtra), generating more than one million TPA LPG and other liquid hydrocarbons.
GAIL is India's first company to own and run LPG-transmission pipelines.
GAIL transmits more than 160 million cubic meters each day through its dedicated pipelines at normal gas conditions. It has a market share of more than 70 percent in gas delivery.

Conclusion
Any applicant appointed to a position in the company will be required to perform their Pre-Employment Medical Examination at a Central/State Government Hospital (with a minimum District Hospital status).
They may also complete it at GAIL-appointed impaneled hospitals and send medical reports in specified formats provided by the Medical Authority. The upper age limit is still 28 years, as of the 13th of March 2020.
